Today 22. january 2020 – a month after winter solslice its “spring” all over Copenhagen, Denmark – in midst winter. The sun is shining from 8.30 am until sunset at 4.30 pm with 7 plus degrees, no wind and blue sky.

This winter 2020 has been the warmest winter in decades with only 5-7 days with  minus 3 degrees and no snow at all, but rain, rain and rain.

 

I arrive to Copenhagen at 11 am by car from my home 60 km north of Copenhagen at Kattegat Sea, North Sealand.

I park my car inside Fisketorvet Shopping Center at Copenhagen Inner Harbour. I take my bike out of my car and start my bike trip alongside Copenhagen Inner Harbour to Copenhagen Old City with Christiansborg Castle, Slotsholmen canal, Amager Square with fountain “Storkespringvandet” at main shopping street and Kings New Square.

Holmen Church at Frederiksholm Canal.

It is a former anchor smithy built 1563 of former Danish Naval Base “Gammelholm” 1510-1867. The smithy was reconstructed as a church 1619 by King Christian 4 King of Denmark and Norway 1588-1648:

Third Christiansborg Castle built 1906-28 by Architect Thorvald Jørgensen (1867-1946) on the foundations Absalons Castle built 1167, former Copenhagen Castles 1367 – 1731,  First Christiansborg Castle 1735-94 and second Christiansborg castle 1828-84,  all castles demolished in wars or burnt down:

I continue my trip to Kings New Square (Kongens Nytorv) establised 1670 by king Christian 5 (King of Denmark and Norway 1670-99) – in center of Copenhagen old City. 

When I arrive I can hear military music and at the same time The Royal Guard arrive marching with guns and music instruments on their destination to Amalienborg Castle – the residence of the danish royal family:

Through Vester Voldgade I bike back to Copenhagen Inner Harbour at Kalvebod Brygge close to “Langebro” bridge and pass close to Danish National Museum and Glyptoteket Museum opposite to Dantes Square:

The last 500 m I bike back alongside Copenhagen Inner Harbour to Shopping Center Fisketorvets Parking at Havneholmen.. 

I arrive at 1.10 pm after a  2 hours wonderful trip on my bike.
