The 7. February 2026 a new 2 weeks period of cold weather from arctic arrived to all Denmark with 5-20 cm snow, minus 1-17 degrees and windy. It was the second extreme cold winter weather all over Denmark since new year 2026.

Thursday morning the 19. February is a sunny day with minus 16,2 degrees in Skrydstrup in Jutland. The weather forecast for the coming weekend is a shift in temperature all over Denmark from minus to plus degrees.

I decide to enjoy the beautiful winter landscape and at 10 AM I drive 10 km from my home in Melby via Torup and Tømmerup to Sølager to visit Store Karlsminde 30 m high cliffs as neighbor to Roskilde Fjord.

When I arrive to the small Sølager harbour which in summetime has a ferry connection to Kulhuse harbour on the other side of Roskilde Fjord I see people and cars all over the parking area.  I ask “What is happining?” and people tell me that a 89 m long and 12 m wide cargo ship “Baltic Wind” is grounded in the strait af Roskilde Fjord between Sølager and Kulhuse  the night before.

After a short rest I continue my walk on shore of Roskilde Fjord at the foot of 30 m high Store Karlsminde Cliffs.

My experience on this walk I will write in my next article PART 2 B of

” Winter in Denmark 2026, 7. – 21. February with temperatures minus 1 – 17 degrees, 5-20 cm snow all over Denmark with cold wind from north-east. PART 2 B: Experience on walk Store Karlsminde Cliffs at Roskilde Fjord with view to grounded cargo ship “Baltic Wind” in strait between Sølager and Kulhuse.”
