5. september 2019 is national Flag Day in honour of danes in international missions and today 40 warships from 16 countries are gathering in Copenhagen Inner Harbour before NATO Navy exercise “Nothern Coats” in Baltic Sea

 

 

 

5. september 2019 er Flagdag til ære for Danmarks ca. 60.000 udsendte i internationale missioner siden 1948 og mindedag for faldne i disse internationale missioner.

I år falder dagen sammen med starten på en stor NATO flådeøvelse i Østersøen med deltagelse af 16 nationer og 40 krigsskibe bemandet med 4500 søfolk.  

Store dele af denne flåde ligger for kaj i Københavns Inderhavn med offentlig adgang.

I invite you to join me on a walk to the quays of Copenhagen Inner Harbour to experience some of the 40 warships which from 7.-18. september 2019 exercises in a major NATO  “NOTHERN COAST” exercise in Baltic Sea, Kattegat Sea and the danish Belts:

Participants countries in this Naval Exercise “Nothern Coast” are members of NATO and associates:

Belgien, Danmark, Canada, Estland, Tyskland, Letland, Litauen, Holland, Norge, Finland, Polen, Kroatien, Frankrig, England, USA og Sverige.

After a 2 hours walk through Copenhagen Inner Harbour I finish in Fortress Kastellet at the entrance to Copenhagen Inner Harbour on the north side.

The Fortress Kastellet was built by King Christian 4, king of Norway and Denmark 1588-1648 and his son King Frederik, 3 king of Norway and Denmark  1648-70 as part of forteess around the entire Copenhagen with 24 bastions, ramparts and mounds 1620-63.
